The cost of seeds may be a small component of the total cost of production. But using poor-quality seeds can nullify the best agronomic practices and crop inputs, no matter how lavishly it is applied. Sindhur Sen (1974) best summarises the importance of seed quality by saying, “‘What is known as the seeds of hope may turn into seeds of frustration’ if they are not of high quality.”

It is, therefore, crucial to recognise the hard work and effort conducted on the ground to ensure the production and supply of high-quality seeds.

Acknowledging the dedication of the Devanahalli Production Team – Field Crops, a recognition program was organised. Their latest achievement included the recovery of crops lost to unseasonal rains through a contingency plan. Manjunath V., Lead (Supply Chain), took the opportunity to laud the team for their efforts and discuss production strategies like monitoring production and selection of farmers. He also shared the importance of collecting and updating data on the Production App. Muniswamy S., (Regional Production Manager) also encouraged the team, motivating them to tackle situations with positivity.

Strap: Team inspired to work closely with farmers to better understand their needs during hybrid evaluation.

Field crop tours are crucial to the creation of commercial hybrids. They allow for the evaluation of the product by a cross-functional team comprising members from the breeding, product development, and sales departments in a farmer’s field. Another key feature of a tour is the face-to-face famer interactions it facilitates.

This season’s Field Crop Tour in Andhra Pradesh offered all this and more. Our CMD, Mr Senthilnathan S, and COO (Field Crop), Mr Ravi Kumar, accompanied the Product Development team to Guntur. The session included a visit to PD trials, new product exposure demos, and inspection of newly commercialised hybrids. Performance demos were also conducted by the PD and sales teams to understand hybrid performance using a head-to-head comparison of pre-harvest and harvest data alongside competitor hybrids.

A AHC 3318 field day in Chiruvarru village of Nuttakki area was also organised as part of the tour, where the team interacted with 85 ACSEN HyVeg farmers. Farmers were impressed with hybrids’ performance and asked for our support in mechanical harvesting techniques.

The post Leadership team’s visit to the Guntur Field Crop Tour boosts morale first appeared on ACSEN Agriscience.

FSHP (Fresh Small Hot Pendant) Hot Pepper has always had great demand in West Bengal, with market size of 1,850 kg.

Tapping into this market, our team in West Bengal has been instrumental in understanding local tastes and preferences to increase ACSEN HyVeg’s share by an enviable proportion. Capturing 49% of the total market share this year, the team sold 807 kg: Eagle (653 kg), Astha (97 kg) and Agni (57 kg).

However, this journey hasn’t been an easy one. In 2019-20, our brand’s sales stood at 449 kg. But, following the lockdown and COVID restrictions in 2020-21, sales dipped to 376 kg. Leaving no stone unturned to meet their milestone for the year 2021-22, the team conducted extensive field visits across the state, hosted pre-season meetings with farmers and organised live crop shows on the road.

Working alongside growers in the region, the team also created a compelling case for our hybrids among commission agents — earning higher prices for the farmers and creating demands for ACSEN HyVeg’s Hot Peppers: Eagle, Astha and Agni.
